A conceptual experience designed to bring people together through shared universal experiences.

A puzzle became the perfect medium for this project, each piece containing a universal human experience etched on the frosted acrylic. Participants were asked to pick and place a puzzle piece that resonated with them — allowing participants to use empathy to transcend our past histories of prejudice, injustice, and division.

A puzzle became the perfect medium for this project, each piece containing a universal human experience etched on the frosted acrylic. Participants were asked to pick and place a puzzle piece that resonated with them — allowing participants to use empathy to transcend our past histories of prejudice, injustice, and division.
The pieces were formed by using a laser cutter to separate each piece from 0.5-inch, frosted acrylic. The base was cut from particle board.
Process:
This was a very hands-on project, and thouroughly enjoyed the process to shop around for vendors and work with new materials and machinery. Here are some snapshots from my time building this project along with earlier versions of the concept.
